Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

Plan on spending all time left for your term running from conflagration to train wreck with no relief from one crisis after another. Toni and Kim are going to drive you out of office with the sole of their boot. It’s either quit or have the UN request your removal like a sub Saharan tin pot.

I used to feel safe and proud when I took out of town visitors downtown on the Rock Island Line into LaSalle Station to go visit the museums and lakefront. Now its just a matter of time before the Gresham, 95th, 35th stops etc. have an armed gangbanger get on and shoot up the passengers. There is absolutely no metal detection or screening of passengers getting onto Metra trains. Life is too short to risk it working or visiting downtown. I wouldn’t bring a visitor downtown these days.
The dead tourist, stabbed on S Wacker Dr, is a big deal. Awful, awful, awful. Daytime murder of a young woman on a public downtown street in a supposedly “civilized” American city – what does that tell us? Cue the message: Women are no safer here in Chicago than Mogadishu, than Kabul, than any other 3rd-world crime-infested hell-hole where women walk unescorted only at genuine great risk to their personal well-being. This wasn’t a gangbanger murder, not a “drug-deal-goes bad” murder; but rather “harm intended” assault stranger-upon-stranger, Asian-ancestry victim and probable Black perpetrator (“dreadlocks” as only disclosed identification-marker in news-story).… Read more »
Black criminals are protected by Lori and Kim. Only white cops are considered felons.
Any comments from the mayor or is she only concerned with mass shootings? Just pretend none of this happened! Yes Lori these are annoying problems. Just ignore them and your problems will vanish! Mentioning anything might result in uncomfortable questions and we know Lori doesn’t like questions! Particularly anything from whitey!
