67% of Chicagoans Vaccinated Are White, Asian: City Data – WTTW (Chicago)

Just 17% of Chicagoans who have gotten the first shot are Latino, while 15% of those who have gotten the coveted shot are Black, according to the city’s data. Mayor Lori Lightfoot called the rate of vaccinations among Black and Latino Chicagoans “alarmingly low.”

I’ve noticed the same thing elsewhere. Type A personalities who are computer savvy and who stay on top of things jump online and capture the available appointments. As it happens, most of these “folks” are Asian or White. We could try to fix this by having people line up outside in the rain and cold to get their appointments. The Asians and Whites would still get the appointments. OR you could assign them by lottery and notify people by text, phone or mail. The mail wouldn’t arrive on time or would remain unopened. Chicago specifically designs its vaccine distribution to be ‘equitable’ and it STILL messes it up. Incompetence. They can’t even get social equity correct.
