Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Seems clear that black lives DON’T matter to hundreds or thousands of black criminals. They’re certainly not white supremacists on these murdering and attempted murder sprees.
And why can’t J Jackson or B Obama or L Lightfoot ever talk about real solutions instead of passing the buck? How about tough crackdown on burglary, armed robbery, stealing cars, selling drugs — and build many more prisons and don’t let the felons out until they pass a real GED high school test.
And bring back speedy trials and death penalty for murder, attempted murder and armed robbery with a loaded gun.

True ! Here’s another angle on the issue of horrific level of crime. Mayor Lori should be extremely angry at the increase in gun violence in the city, and she’s clearly not. She criticizes her detractors calling them racists and misogynists, blames the problem on Indiana, AND oddly praises the new helpful guy in the White House. Much of the weekend mayhem is being tied to “gatherings”. Maybe Lori, if she ever shows her face, can help us understand what this means. We can then be more culturally sensitive. I bet CPD can define it better. Two or more shtbgs together.
Conservatives need to do some serious outreach with Spanish speaking communities, who for the most part still believe in god and family. It also wouldn’t hurt for Republicans to promote black intellectuals like Shelby Steel, Glenn Loury, Thomas Sowell, and even black celebrities like Kanye West. Grownups are needed to counter all the childish bs going around in search of shakedown cash. Have some moral authority, shame your colleagues for indulging in white guilt.
All the gains conservatives had from 2016 to 2020 in those demographics were not enough to offset the loss of suburban whites, especially short-haired suburban women with the “Hate Has No Home Here” signs in their yard. You bring up very good points with much observational truth behind them, but attitudes are changing in minority communities more than I’ve seen in a lifetime. Hispanic friends who used to brag about reconquista now mention controlling immigration a wee bit, the need for some gentrification in their communities, less free s**t; all of my hispanic acquaintances are tired of the pass for bad behavior given to blacks. Yes but there are only two choices on the ballot and you would need BIPOC to vote for ‘the other guy’ which is not occurring often enough to switch votes. All they have to do is not vote for the guy in power, it is simple but they won’t do it. Getting someone to vote for the other guy is nearly impossible these days which is why it’s All about turnout and Democrat states have election month instead of Election Day

I read an article with glaring headlines about 400 people shot across the US on this holiday. Almost 100 shot in Chicago alone accounting for 25% of those 400. Crime is under control says the Troll mayor, move along, nothing to see here.

I just spent 4 days in lower Manhattan. As dystopian as NYC might seem to some, it was immensely safer and more happening than Chicago. Being able to safely walk all over town, without having to fear for one’s life, it was like escaping from a horrible prison. Chicago has been ground zero for a whole lot of political and ideological garbage for much too long and the inmates are in charge of the asylum.
There’s really very little mentioned of young people celebrating downtown. Let’s just pretend it never happened. Lori will be in a mood all day. Brown’s big plan fell a little flat. Maybe it’s time for another trip to the woodshed with the aldermen.
The young people you refer to are hooligans at best, and many were armed. Another summer of fun in Chiraq. Families were already fleeing to the suburbs to escape the violence from last year, and that will only increase. How long can this go on? City numbers are never correct. HEYJACKASS.COM the only source for real violence numbers has it at 93 shot with 17 killed as of 8:25am Monday. Multiple double, triple, quad incidents including a 6 pack with 2 dead. Perhaps there’s an arena (Soldiers’ Field?) where weapons-free gladiators comprised of citizen-shooters and illegals could go mano-a-mano. No charge for admission and gambling encouraged. The best fighters would attract sponsors (not to mention fancy ladies) and vice could be confined and controlled. Long prison terms result in fatherless families? Most of those so called families dont who or where the baby daddy be or is. As for supporting those families, thats another laugh out loud moment. There is no responsibility. There is no support.
