The Southland Tax Reactivation Act is proposed as a pilot program involving sites owned by the Cook County and South Suburban land bank authorities, and local municipalities. The land banks can acquire tax-delinquent properties, clear back taxes on them, and present a potential buyer with a clean, unencumbered title to the site.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
