Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

Poll workers dying from this is a tragedy. I remember Wirepoints and commenters talking about how poll workers are mostly elderly, and that they were greater at-risk for this virus.
Aside from the sadness of this, I wonder when the lawsuits will happen, because the employer (State of Illinois) knew of these risks to their temporary employees, yet persisted in the name of politics. It won’t take but a few enterprising lawyers to set this new cottage industry up and going.

This is Jabba’s second major scandal in office (the IDES failure is the first major scandal). “The incumbents must get their votes!” and now poll workers are dying. But nary a word in the news media about this incredibility stupid decision. Gov.
