Peoria-based OSF HealthCare, which operates numerous downstate hospitals, as well as Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Evergreen Park, announced cost-cutting measures April 7, starting with reduced pay for executives. But the planned cuts also include unpaid leaves of absence, reduced retirement plan contributions, mandatory paid time off and a hiring freeze on certain positions.
Solution: institute mandatory national draft to medical corps. Every American should work at some position in a hospital or long term care facility for at least one year in some capacity: nurse assistant, laundry, kitchen, housekeeping.
This would help solve many critical problems of staffing shortages and high costs, and give Americans a better understanding of what “healthcare ” is and is not.

Is there unpaid leave in the public union sector like teachers/administrators/etc. I doubt it. More like raises and bonuses and probably more are considering earlier retirement. Remember public contracts are SACROSANCT but not for us.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
