According to Governor Pritzker's office, he has only taken clemency actions on 20 requests since March 1. The vast majority of the list have completed or were near the end of their sentences. Roughly 900 were within 180 days of the end of their sentence, were nonviolent offenders and were given some kind of credit for good behavior. Some even may have passed away, according to the governor's office.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
