The unions have already put a line in the sand: No government employee should lose even one hour of work to balance the budget.

And it’s the GOP who must be responsible. The Dictator’s reliance on tax increases before they’re passed, his refusal to make any cuts earlier, and his budgeting imaginary funds from the DC Money Tree were an example of responsibility.

The Dictator does not need nor want a willing partner. Why would the Democrats need a partner when they have the governorship, supermajorities in the legislature, the courts and the media. The Dictator doesn’t want a GOP partner, all he wants is a GOP he can bash and blame

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
