Even subtracting COVID-19 deaths, Illinois still suffered its largest population drop in modern history in the first year of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s fiscal policies, including 20 new tax and fee hikes, as well as his pandemic response.

Never fear Illinois – Biden will open the immigration floodgates and they will come to Illinois for ‘sanctuary’ and all the unfunded handouts.

As I have already said, leaving Illinois is the best financial decision you will make in your lifetime. One can retire on what is saved on real estate taxes alone. Every person I know has left Illinois or is leaving. Illinois politicians think the American dream is funding the state and then allowing politicians to squander every cent. Seriously, how long before real estate taxes are more than the rent? The roads are so bad that you spend what little is left repairing your car and buying tires. Electricity in IL is 3 times more than my new state of… Read more »

True. In Rockford property taxes are more than the mortgage. I heard last night that the park district is raising their levy and others taxing bodies will soon follow. The only good thing about PTELL is they cannot raise the levy more than 5% or 1/2 of inflation but with rising property values and more building going on taxes should not increase too much I hope!!!

But I thought nobody left due to taxes? Name one pro-growth strategy the political class has done to encourage immigration into the State? The best they can do is claim sanctuary status. Wonder how that strategy is working out.

Name one pro-growth strategy the Republican Party has proposed, gotten into the mainstream press, and won the battle of ideas with public opinion. They are as feckless as two-year-olds. Rauner blew his chance. Millennials are not putting Illinois high on their list. They are looking to states that have opportunities to build wealth.

Rauner, for all his faults, was a lame duck the day he entered office, when Madigan decided to wait him out. That’s why nothing, not even a budget, got passed for years. The D’s love to blame Rauner for everything, while the Democrats actively sabotaged his chances of getting anything accomplished.

The hypocracy of the Democrats is truly despicable. They complained for four years about Rauner the billionaire who only cared about rich people, but then, voted for an aristocratic billionaire, with no experience, because he sold them the progressive line of BS.

The goal is not pro-growth. The goal is to force you, the middle class tax paying republican, out of the state, and replace you with reliable Democratic voters, illegal immigrants and the foreign born. It’s working wonderfully. It’s better to be ruler of a small, crappy state than to share power with Republicans in a larger, more powerful state.
