Don’t rule out Madigan yet. He is the only one in the House who has experience with Speaker fights. It is a unique brand of in house fighting. He is one of the smartest politicians in the US over the last fifty years . And the the talent pool in the Dem House caucus has been depleted significantly over the last twenty years by Madigan taking over all fundraising, polling , election staffing, mailings, and general strategy. Most of the Dem members are followers, not leaders, and they have no clue how to round up the posse.
Funny to watch them eat their own. Will be funny to see who fills the void… Nature abhors a vacuum.
The only constituentcy in Illinois worse than Madigan and his cronies are progressive suburban women. I would actually prefer Madigan to the progressives. Madigan is at least pragmatic. The progressives are ideologues with no regard for human life.
