Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Shut us down to prevent a remote chance of contracting COVID. Release accused felons to create a more-than-remote chance of recidivism. Government by whim. Of, by and for the “right people.” It’s still mob rule, and invites intemperate action and reaction, whether stuffing the ballot box or trashing the magic mile or …
O tempora, o mores.
Nothing will change until one or more of are brilliant politicians or family members become of victim of crime by one or more of the continuous criminals that they release into society. Oh and don’t ever pull a gun or shoot one of them if they rob or attempt to kill you or a family member.
That’s true. If you try to get a stop sign at an intersection which is dangerous nothing will happen unless a politician’s family member or financial contributor family is hurt or worse killed then their up in a few days. I have two intersections one with a two way stop and the other no stop sign but a large blindspot where many accidents have happened and some killed and nothing gets done.
May I again suggest WP readers check out what a fiasco no cash bail has already turned into in Cook/County/Chicago. Visit CWBCHICAGO. COM and search the articles of felony suspects, out with no bail, have been re-arrested multiple times for serious crimes, released (no bail) and continue their violent ways. Ridiculous.
But, it’s systemic racism to require cash bail. (this is satire)
