Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Yes, this is anti-democratic, but the groups up there like Indivisible IL-9 Andersonville-Edgewater, are communist in all but name. IIRC the Aldercreature for Roger’s Park (part of cassidy’s district) is DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) which is the fancy way of saying “we are communists”. I’d rather the corrupt committemen pick a replacement, who isn’t a communist, instead of the residents electing actual communists who will work to actually destroy democracy from within.
