Chicago teachers perform ‘interpretive dance’ to protest reopening of schools – The College Fix

One Chicago teacher took to a blog to complain that even CDC recommendations for returning to schools were insufficient, and alleged “nice white families” would kill black families with their emphasis on in-person instruction. Comment: Be sure to watch the video.

I think many of us have often wondered how low is the bar to be a City of Chicago teacher. The real question after watching this is “Is there any bar at all?” Who would want these people as an employee in any capacity? But teaching kids? Just awful.

Yep, there is no bar. They are not required to have a bar or set of minimum requirements that defines any level of activity, performance, results or success. Nothing really. These people have been off for almost an entire year, some “teaching” remotely, many not. They like it and their union will fight until the last to keep these schools closed…until someone has the guts to fire them. What an unbelievable waste of money.

Run as fast as you can away from these “teachers”.

When I saw that video last week I thought I was watching an SNL parody video.

So CPS students aren’t being taught reading, writing or math but there are at least six dance teachers on the payroll. I am sure children in China and India are not spending precious hours in school learning dance. In the future when our economy is no longer competitive at least we can take comfort with our superior dance skills.

Unless it’s accompanied by “(I Just) Died In Your Arms” by Cutting Crew I don’t wanna watch.

I am surprised by the lack of a ‘progressive’ attitude in chitown towards education. Education is by far the best means for those in poverty to rise out of poverty. Education is knowledge. Children need a good education. Remote education is only effective for those who already have excellent command of the basics. You cannot teach the basics remotely. What we are truly seeing is class warfare. The lower class who have no options for educating their children outside of public school don’t realize just how much CPS is abandoning their children. It is almost impossible for a child to… Read more »

The CTU has a new slogan. They have dropped “It’s for the children” and replaced it with “We do nothing for anyone but us.”

Health care workers do not have the option to work at home, but must nevertheless care for CTU members as needed.

Under normal condition these teachers would be fired. Lock them out, hire agency teachers from India to do the online instruction!

The mask rule apparently is subject to an artistic expression exception.

Wow now I fully understand the plight of these teachers. Funny my garbage man, grocer, mailman, plumber, hvac guy, restaurant, Starbucks, home depot and Wal mart homies have all been going to work since March. If only they would have danced! Ill attempt to interpret this interpretive dance now… To me it depicted a group of prima Donna snowflakes who want to be treated with the special privileges they deserve. Like when they go to Starbucks to get coffee from someone who’s been showing up for work since March. Or when they buy groceries from folks who never got a… Read more »

We used to call people like this loonies, as in crazy, not playing with a full deck.

Now the woke left calls them the dancing vestal virgins of covid.

Ted and I are considering doing an interpretive dance to communicate Illinois budget issues.

Mark – I watched the video. I thought it was a parody, a Spinal Tap poking fun at the effete snowflake cloud. But alas it was real! There is a certain percentage of the far left with who one cannot any kind of reasonable conversation or discussion. The people in this video are it.

Mark–if you follow through with ‘interpretive dance to communicate Illinois budget issues’, to represent us tax payers it will be a dance on all 4, (or maybe on the back) correct????

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
