A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
This is in regards to my comment posted below regarding the incompetence of the CPD command staff. Recently, an Area Chief issued an order that two district tactical teams would man gas pumps at stations for 1-2 hours per night, per district, to prevent car jackings. The officers would pump gas for people. Brillant! The only problem is that there are city ordinances that make this act a municipal code violation. This called a “Cover Your Ass” press release. The truth is that the upper echelon of the CPD is made up of politically connected bafoons many who never passed a promotional examine or some who never took a promotional exam. Yes, that’s true. There is this thing called “merit promotions” and names are submitted of individuals who supposedly earned the right to be a sergeant, lieutenant, commander, chief etc. Failure to pass an exam, scandalous history etc were not considered and some of the most inept people you can imagine are now running the show.
