Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. And in other news Cabrini Kim is pushing for new rules regarding thefts and shoplifting. The new amount being pushed is $2000.00 before felony charges kick in. Think about that for a second or two. Steal $1800 from a person or business and you will get a harsh talking to and really hard slap in the wrist, if convicted and the charges aren’t dropped or reduced by the Cook County States Attorneys Office.
Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx was just re-elected in November 2020 yet she is complaining her and other locally elected black female prosecutors are being harassed by various entities including the news media, and darker skin blacks are more likely to be victimized than lighter color blacks.
