Pritzker says every adult in Illinois may get vaccine by May 1 – Center Square

In all, nearly 3.8 million doses have been administered in Illinois. The state continues to lag behind other states in getting people fully vaccinated, ranking 38th in the country.

He’s an idiot. If the way the “systems” work now is any indication what to expect later in the year, people will be lucky to be getting a vaccine next year sometime. Illinois is an absolute mess distributing this vaccine – just a mess.

It has been estimated that only about 60-70% of Illinois adults plan on getting a vaccine. Illinois has around 9.8 million adults so if 70% want a vaccine that’s about 6.8 million adults. 2.6 million adults have at least 1 dose, 1.56 million fully vaccinated with a little over a million with just one dose. We have 45 days until May 1st and are averaging over 100k shots per day with steady improvement. As long as supply is there Illinois should easily be able to complete 5 million shots before May 1st. Illinois could easily have 5-6 million of those… Read more »

“I don’t understand all the complaining about vaccinations in Illinois.” The complaints are because the state is focusing on ‘equity’ over efficiency, equality, and those most at risk. There’s some site in Pullman, Chicago, Illinois, where anyone Black over the age of 40 can get it. Meanwhile my diabetic mother aged 64 has to wait at the back of the line because she’s not Black, does not live in a Black neighborhood, and doesn’t have any political connections. Oh and she’s a Republican voter. So no shot for her. JB you are fat, pathetic man. Don’t worry, your billions will… Read more »

Your mother is in 1b plus. She is eligible so no need to wait. About 8% of the Illinois population that’s been vaccinated is black and yet they make up over 14% of the population. Your mother not getting one has nothing to do with being white or voting republican. Clinging to an anecdote about some random 40 yo black man getting a vaccine is no different than BLM complaining about the police because of a rare police shooting. The statistics don’t support your argument. Even if you don’t believe the statistics, go to a pharmacy and watch the people… Read more »

“Beginning February 25, 2021, Phase 1B will expand to include additional eligible Illinois residents with specific health-complicating conditions. A full list of eligible individuals can be found below.” ….Diabetes But 1B plus isn’t even three weeks old. Your anecdotal story of watching white people at Walgreens just as valid as my anecdotal story of my mother having difficulty getting shots. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/health-officials-say-more-covid-19-vaccines-needed-throughout-illinois The state is trying to blame the Feds (Biden), yet, we are all aware of the ‘equity’ angle pushed everywhere, and for every 40 year old otherwise healthy Black person getting a shot, there is a 64 white person… Read more »

“for every 40 year old otherwise healthy Black person getting a shot, there is a 64 white person with pre-existing conditions who has not.” Yet only 8% of all vaccinated in Illinois are black for a population that represents 14%. White people as a whole seem to be doing better than black people getting access to vaccines. Maybe instead of posting all day long on this site you could use that time and work the Walgreens website. Why didn’t you get her one yesterday when they were available all throughout Illinois? How many comments did you make yesterday when you… Read more »

“For the record I don’t think shots should be distributed based on race but those few stories that you hear about are not causing your mother to miss out on a vaccine. There just isn’t enough shots right now to meet demand.” Yet, this is the entire ‘equity’ argument. They are being distributed based on race precisely because there aren’t enough shots. https://www.chicagotribune.com/coronavirus/vaccine/ct-united-center-vaccination-site-zip-codes-added-20210313-nhm3p7r7hndmbdhkofcwe36yj4-story.html “The United Center mass vaccination site began accepting appointments from residents of four additional ZIP codes at highest need for doses on Saturday morning, city officials said. Those living in the 60624, 60644, 60651 and 60653 ZIP… Read more »

“Maybe instead of posting all day long on this site you could use that time and work the Walgreens website.” As for posting here all day long, maybe if the f’in Gov. would reopen the state to Phase 5, I wouldn’t have to be here all day long, because I’d actually be working at 100% instead of 50% or whatever. And I went to the Walgreen site, just now, like right now, and posted my mom’s zip code (as I do every day anyway) and here is the response: “COVID-19 vaccination appointments are not available within 25 miles of *******,… Read more »

You didn’t check Monday when they were available ALL DAY. You didn’t check earlier in the (Tues) afternoon when they were available. Today they are available in Peoria. Since you are only working at 50% how about you drive your mom and get her a vaccine. Quit playing the victim. Is she not worth a few hours of your time to reduce her risk? Black people have only received 370k out of 4.2 million doses. How many of these were to individuals that did not qualify? How many white people have received a vaccine but are not yet eligible? How… Read more »

“White people as a whole seem to be doing better than black people getting access to vaccines.”

Yes, because elderly are disproportionately white compared to other races. So they should be getting the shot more. JB went against CDC guidelines and made the first shots available to those age 65 and older, instead of 75 and older, because there were too many white people getting shots. That’s racist as all hell. If Black were mostly over 75, I’d say the same thing- old people first.

Kane County is opening a mass vaccination site this Friday in Batavia for ALL Illinois residents. Get your mom an appointment. Stop spending all your time complaining about Illinois government and start taking ownership. Quit being the victim.

IS he keeping us all safe?

The prioritizing of vaccines to black and brown individuals is a civil rights violation.

Right. Just like a year ago when Pritzker said that he could be a Dictator of Illinois only until we “flatten the curve”.

The flatten the curve probably won’t happen –just like the flatten HIS waistline.
Has he received the REAL vaccine? Or has he just had the fake version like many other Demonrats?

Or NO version like world “leaders” e.g., Netanyahu – “shot” behind the arm. They know what that jab is, and will NOT get it to save their life. Literally.

Total privilege.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
