Illinois lawmaker looks to curb carjackings by banning violent video games – Center Square

Rep. Marcus Evans Jr. said the point of the bill is to start the conversation about why young Chicagoans are committing these crimes in greater numbers. “We have a huge issue here in some cities and some towns with carjackings. Thinking about some of the influences of some young people, potentially, I filed this bill as an idea to get us thinking about ways to curb this terrible, terrible deviant behavior of carjacking.”

Judge, I plead not guilty due to video game insanity.

Too much time playing GTA rerouted the circuitry in my brain.

The video game caused me to carjack.

More important to get your name in the paper or your face on a screen than to make sense with your sound bite. Politicians understand that most voters are ignorant fools. That’s why it’s so important to both preserve democracy and to cancel or drown out moderates and conservatives.

The trajectory is clear: Kamela in the White House and Camilla at Buckingham. You cain’t always git what you want …

I would like to see the correlation of politicians to psychopaths.

Aaron, that’s no joke. I once attended a lecture by the State Department’s guy who did psych profiles on foreign leaders. He was a double PhD from Harvard. He made some comments about politicians, including US politicians, mostly being psychopaths — exceptionally dishonest, predatory, devoid of conscience, self-absorbed, etc. He showed surprise when the audience showed surprise. He seemed to think everybody already knew that.

<sigh> I know, I know – but I’ll say it anyway. I love the GTA series and never once did it cross my mind to go try some real life carjacking.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
