Bill would give water customers a voice before privatizing a utility – Center Square

Marking World Water Day 2021 on Monday, state Sen. John Connor said his bill would require private water companies to give taxpayers an individual vote before their city or village sells the public water system. A 2013 law allows the companies to raise rates up to 2.5% to cover a single acquisition or a total of 5% for multiple acquisitions.
