Chicago police officer placed on administrative duty after fatal ‘armed confrontation’ with 13-year-old boy – USA Today

Chicago’s Civilian Office of Police Accountability, the agency that investigates police misconduct, said in a statement the incident was captured on a body camera, but because the shooting victim was a juvenile, the footage cannot be released without a court order.

Where’s Ben Crump? Guess he only shows up when there’s protests and riots. Then the family will make a statement that their son was a good kid and would not want any rioting. Then you get the SJW states attorney to charge the cop. Now you get the big settlement which the city is all too happy to sign off on. Then off to the next shooting to continue the race hustle.

Just because he’s 13 doesn’t mean he hasn’t committed a “deadly force” felony crime, carried a loaded gun at 2:30 am, or aimed weapon at policeman. Cops shouldn’t need to “card” a gun-carrying criminally-acting individual aiming a weapon at them before responding with deadly force, nor quickly assess whether that young adult is “of-age” or not. Teenagers have the least self-control, in regards to doing stupid stuff, but that doesn’t mean cop needs to “take a bullet” for that gangbanging teen. I’m sorry for his mother; I’m sure she’s heartbroken, and she probably had little control over him. And where’s… Read more »

On the one hand, it’s tragic a young boy’s life was cut short, but on the other hand, I’m glad the police got him first before he killed one of them. There’s no rehabilitation for a 13 year old that roams the neighborhood at night with a loaded gun. I grew up in kind of a rough, working class area, and even at 13, the worst we ever did was some vandalism.

Who? You’ve got to be kidding. Right now the biological breeders are looking for a botton feeder lawyer to sue hoping to hit the ghetto lottery. Not a son but a paycheck.

News to the uninformed. A 13 yr old can kill you just as quick as a 40 yr old. Age has nothing to do with it. If there was an armed confrontation between the suspect, again age doesn’t matter, and the officer, and in defense of his life or fear of great bodily injury from that armed suspect and the suspect was shot, too bad. Also, disregard the inflammatory term “he died from homicide by gunshot”. Anyone who dies due to the action of another human being is a homicide, it has nothing to due with rightness or wrongdoing of… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
