Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. How reassuring to know that United will hire its pilots on basis of SJW criteria rather than traditional standards of training, prior professional experience (military pilots), and record.
Being good at anything starts with an insatiable desire to do that thing, that usually comes in childhood. Its what drives the hard work that follows. Military training aviators start with that desire too. To say that United is going to start recruiting based on race for this profession is scary, what, to get candidates who “Just need a job”? I want the pilot who lived a lifetime flying.
Why don’t you start with all the executives first. Sorry but for a pilot I want the most qualified, I don’t care what color or gender or sexual persuasion. Using quotas doesn’t get you the most qualified.
I can’t wait to hop on a flight where the primary pilot qualification is that they are not a white male with lots of experience. Make sure you have your life insurance paid up.
