Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. She doesn’t think it’s fair for a landlord to charge a fee to run someone’s credit report. Ok fine, the landlord will just consider it a cost of doing business. How does a landlord pass on the costs of doing business, raises the rent. Chase landlords out of Illinois which will diminish the amount of rental units which will raise rents. She was elected because Trump created such a bad name on the Republican Party that suburban women left and voted against their financial interest. Look no further than the progressive tax amendment. These same women voted against the amendment but at the same time voted for the same representatives that placed it on the ballot because they have a “D” next to their name. Trump served his purpose in terms of SCOTUS picks but Republicans need to move on.
Trump has nothing to do with this. She won in 2018 by about a 1,000 votes and only won 53/47 in 2020, by about 3,000 votes. There’s some of good old Republican DuPage County left but much of it has moved on and has been replaced by the progressives and foreign born that always vote blue no matter who.
Go back and read your own posts debtsor. You are on record stating that Republicans have lost votes because “orange man bad”. So which is it? Orange man bad caused the vote change or all the republicans moved away? The change in voting has nothing to do with people moving in and out. The margin of victory being small also is pointless when you consider the district used to be considered a safe republican seat. Trump had 74,000,000 votes in November, more than any other president in history, including Obama, the previous record holder (of course Biden holds this dubious honor now, which no serious person really believes). Trump also gained with voters in IL, not necessarily Republican, compared to 2016. But you don’t know what you’re talking about. Studies have show that counties where the foreign born population is greater than 14% vote… Read more »
