I was downtown recently and I realized for the first time how much I dislike going down there. I used to go down there every day but now that I abandoned Chicago I can’t stand going down there. Everyone is still wearing masks outside, 1/4 the people down there are gender bending freaks with purple and blue hair, I hear 50 languages other than English, and there are bums everywhere. When have the majority of older people ever thought differently about other people usually two generations younger? in general I think a person’s attitudes and preferences are almost cemented before reaching age 50. Younger people having attitudes and appearances otherwise are shunned and/or the butt of jokes by them. You are not unique in that respect. Get the drift here?
I travel vast swathes of the country and there’s mostly ‘normal’ looking people of all races, colors and creeds. I travel to downtown Chicago last week, and it is mostly freaks. It ain’t me, it’s Chicago. And many others seem to believe the same.
I wonder if you are reacting to the LGBTQ(sp?) people who look and act decidedly weird to main-stream people. I know such things are repellant to me. I think you’d likely find similar people in most truly large cities. I hate to say it, but the “normal” people have no choice other are never going to such places or learning to take it in stride. The latter is a laudable goal but easier said than done.
