The revelation of alleged corruption could deal another blow to public confidence in Cook County’s property tax system, just as tax bills are supposed to be hitting mailboxes. The bills already might be delayed because of “major errors” in a $250 million-a-year program that offers a tax break to certain seniors.
Don’t let this public employee cop a plea. Prosecute before a jury. If guilty, bankrupt him/her with fines and take away a public pension. Confiscate any property acquired with the ill-gotten bribes. A major function of criminal law is to deter others. Jail time probably would cost more than it would help. Better (s)he should choose to walk the streets in shame or move far away.

Properties are only ATM machines for taxing bodies. The ability to pay these outrageous taxes are never considered. How many seniors have lost there homes to increased property values because they were unable to pay the taxes. Our governor seems to sign anything on his desk. Someone should sneak in property reform papers.

There everywhere in this state, corrupt employees now.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
Utter, utter lawlessness in Illinois.
Shocking and sad; an absolute free for all.
