Column: Pritzker’s off and running to what looks like a sure victory – Champaign News-Gazette*

Jim Dey: "In terms of statewide politics, Republicans are the equivalent of a lost tribe wandering in the desert. In terms of policy, as weak as Illinois is, it’s still in arguably better shape than it was when Pritzker ousted former Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner in 2018."

Republican challengers should mount a billboard ad campaign like this:
If you want to save money on property taxes remove THESE. Have a picture of JB throwing out toilets.
If you want to save money on all taxes remove THIS. Another picture of JB.
Other billboards or TV advertising could ask. How do you like increased license plate fees/increased gas taxes and a list of all other new and raised taxes?
Nothing mean spirited or dirty politics. Like Joe Friday asks. Just the Facts!

None of this matters. Everyone in the state saw the Rauner commercials 100x. They all heard the audio recording of JB trying to buy a state office from Blago.

None of that mattered – 800k new voters showed throughout the state in 2018 to vote for JB that didn’t show up for Quinn in 2014.

People think that JB is keeping us safe.

People think that JB is keeping us safe,
People in Illinois are so fickle and gullible it makes me sick.
Problem is there is not one republican that will be able to hold water against Pritzker, the 3 candidates now might as well just hang it up.

IL is a deep blue state. Republicans no longer live here and have been replaced by immigrants, foreigners and their progeny, most of whom who vote Democrat. There’s no hope, there’s no sense in trying to even win.

Leave the state, abandon it, losing IL is a tactical retreat, as we move into surrounding states to regroup as red states and fortify.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
