Chicago sees an opening in Texas controversies – Crain’s*

Following “recent controversial state laws and policies,” the city of Chicago is using a full-page ad in this Sunday’s edition of the Dallas Morning News to invite Texans and Texas-based companies to come north.

"Dear Texas," reads the ad from World Business Chicago, "There were always more than 100 reasons why Chicago is a great place for business... Now we'd like to highlight a few more. In Chicago, we believe in every person's right to vote, protecting reproductive rights, and science to fight COVID-19. If you want to build or expand your company or are looking to build your career, come to Chicago.”

Chicago has multiple trimester options … lead over here … lead over there … no need to rush into a decision the neighborhood can help you out later

Come to Illinois where murder is legal at any age. Crains? If you’re a gun person, Chicago is great! Big game? The best, you can hunt down and shoot people! All risk free! Crains?

Our business environment,, taxes and weather sucks but we allow late term abortions for 16 year olds!

And they put the ad in a newspaper! A newspaper! Who in their right mind thought this would be a good idea?

Double post, but I saw an article on the Trib home page about this again. Think about how gruesome and tone deaf this is. It’s a full page ad that says “can’t murder your unborn child in Texax, come to Illinois!” Gruesome really, disgusting. What sick person would actually move to Illinois because of this?

No it won’t ! The law is perfectly reasonable and it does not stop a woman from getting an abortion! If you have unprotected sex and you know what time it is in your cycle, you get yourself checked out and if need be you can have your abortion. Once a heart beat is detected then all things change!

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
