Illinois added 2,500 jobs in August, as unemployment in the state fell from 7.1% in July to 7% last month, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. With 435,900 Illinoisans still out of work, the state’s August unemployment rate remains higher than the 5.2% national average.
