Aldermen Poised For Long-Awaited Chance To Grill Police Over Controversial ShotSpotter Technology – Block Club Chicago

“The data reflects that there’s a very low yield for the technology that really begs the question of whether a cost benefit analysis has been done,” former Inspector General Joseph Ferguson said in an October budget hearing. “There are bad actors who are caught because of a ShotSpotter alert. But are enough of them caught to offset the harms that come from aggressive policing from false positives?”

Hmmmm….David Brown has a scheduled thrashing courtesy of our benevolent aldercreatures! They’ll get to the root cause and hold some designated sap as an example of true accountability. Maybe a Harump or tsk tsk to show their concern!

So, let’s take a moment here… We’re beset with a level of crime that seems to know no bounds… And the Alderdupes are concerned about false positives? I am all of the victims of car-jackings, etc. are totally fine with the hands-off approach.. Maybe we could bring in some of those social workers who have been taped to keep the safety in those cities where they defunded the police… Oh, wait….

Because they are not concerned with crime or shootings. They are only concerned with letting the gangs operate freely in their wards. It’s the same attitude in the crime ridden favelas of Rio de Janiro. They are ‘no go’ zones for police and the local gangs/warlord are in charge. The crime is an intended result of making these communities ‘no go’ zones.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
