There’s No Second Amendment on the South Side of Chicago – Nation

"The truth is, laws criminalizing gun possession not only devastate Black and brown communities; they also fail to achieve one of their primary objectives: reducing the supply of guns on our streets. As the Chicago Police Department seizes thousands of guns on the street, thousands more exist on the market and access to them remains far too easy."

Mr. Mitchell should spend his energy convincing his clients not to shoot at each other instead of lecturing law abiding gun owners about racism. This article is offensive, racist, and full of lies and half-truths. Ask his fellow Democrat Michael Bloomberg about how he nearly solved New York’s high murder rate: stop and frisk with the goal of heavy-handed prosecution of gun charges. In Bloomberg’s own words, he said that gang bangers became too scared to carry guns for fear of being arrested. Crime dropped massively, formerly blighted neighborhoods became middle and upper class enclaves and New York became one… Read more »

What a racist comment. Isnt everything that disagrees with a lopsided, ill informed, blame whitey for everything commentary racist? Well I guess that the cops shouldn’t try to get guns off the street to stem the bloodbath thats occurring. If that happened I guess the author of this article would get back on the soap box and proclaim how racist the cops are for not getting guns off the street. It’s a never win with the everything is racist crowd. There’s a thing called a FOID (hopefully that will be gone soon) that allows a person to own a gun.… Read more »

Even worse, the author spreads disinformation and misinformation (aka lies) that white people are less likely to be arrested and convicted of a gun crime than black people. Because racism or something. Has nothing to do with urban gangbangers running around the streets actually shooting at each other, because according this to guy, the same thing happens in the suburbs or rural areas, except that the Mayberry cops just let off the white folk because they’re white. Nonsense.

So the people in your community can afford a gun but they can’t afford the concealed carry permit. Who’s to blame for the high price of the concealed carry permit? The people in your community can’t get a permit because of a drug conviction. Sorry, the FOI prohibits felonies not misdemeanors, if they have a felony conviction it wasn’t a simple possession conviction, had to be something more.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
