In reviewing the generous leave policy in the D65 teacher contract (see below), why is the district surprised there is a work staff shortage? I’m surprised this isn’t a more frequent occurrence. I mean look at that! Teachers get 12 sick days per year, and if they use 4 or less, they get those days back to throw into their already massive sick day bank. In other words, 4 free sick days! Damn right I’m gonna be sick on Tuesday before Thanksgiving! Personal leave days shall be non-cumulative; however, unused personal leave days will accumulate as sick days. The real reason is Black Friday sales have started very early this year. They are lasting for weeks. Over at Menards I was told their annual 3 day sale will last for 10 days. So shopping takes priority but the kids education can wait till after the holidays in 2023 or so. Maybe later if there are good deals.

Due to the backlog of container ships and a snarled transportation grid, you’ll want to start your Christmas shopping early to get the best deals while stores still have items in stock. 😉
