Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Moral of the story, run your company and shut up about social issues. The two dont work together and always end up ugly.
Sadly, in today’s world, if you can be a pawn in another’s game of chess, you will be sent to the cannons… Agree that most functioning adults should know better than to write anything that could be incriminating… Seriously. It’s like dealing with a teenager and his/her first phone… That said, his comments were spot on… But, to be fair, he was a bit reserved… The parents of the dude he was with, and the parents of his parents likely had a share of ownership in his fate… Agency – the ability to be free, to own one’s choices and… Read more »
“These people” have their own truth and they act as a “bodyguard of lies” to the truth of the failures that everyone can see. What does this bodyguard protect? Political corruption and self-enrichment for many, including school administrators and teachers. Credulity on the part of the victims who can be persuaded that it’s not their responsibility or fault. Simple denial by those who are uncomfortable with cognitive dissonance. The unfortunate thing is that it seems to begin at the top and filter down. The politicians are the opportunists who make s**t up and propagate it. It is truly a forlorn… Read more »
The lunatics really are running the asylum!
The CEO’s mistake was that he insulted a large portion of his customer base. He should have never texted the mayor about this knowing it would have been discovered in a FOIA request. Stupid move by a Fortune 500 CEO.
As for the mother’s feigned indignation after being called a bad mother, she is a terrible mother and everyone knows it. That’s her legacy in this world for the rest of her life, and the only way she can find repentance is through some sort of religion. I hope she finds it.
Just another example of the death of individuality, a value Americans once held in the highest esteem. To judge others as individuals, and to celebrate others as individuals for their accomplishments. The observations that Alexis de Toqueville once made about America’s esteem for the individual as the God-given philosophy of America’s greatness, is being replaced with Marxist collectivism. Where the state decides how to judge and where that judgement is all by identity group, not by individual as Martin Luther King would have had it be. To not judge by individual is the very definition of racism, Marxism is institutional… Read more »
The truth sometimes hurts, and we know that the woke crowd doesn’t like truth. The circle of violence will never be broken because the root cause won’t be addressed. The woke crowd blames others and screams with indignation, but that changes nothing. They need to look in the mirror. And why is everyone in Crook County a pastor?
The title of Pastor is more acceptable than shtbag. Isn’t Lori a pastor? She performed a marriage not long ago in MA.
It is true that people living in certain areas face a “very different reality”. But it is not true that the actions (or inaction) of those community members play no role in creating and perpetuating the reality that they now face.
Ostracized for speaking the truth! I wonder what the butchers talley will be this weekend. Lori will simply ignore it!
Sad commentary on where we are as a nation.
The Republic is in deep trouble until enough rational people speak out – loudly.
The truth hurts. She’s looking for money. That’s what these people are into. Free money, free coats, free school supplies, free backpacks, free thanksgiving food and on and on ad nausea.
