With $162 billion more from taxpayers, couldn’t you deliver a few bond upgrades, too

A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
It will take a grass roots campaign to take back the state. We need someone with charisma who will speak passionately to the families and the working people of the state. The message has to be clear and concise. Public safety, Education, growth of jobs. This is an emergency situation. It’s time for someone to lead and unite people instead of divide them. Can Jeanne Ives step up and lead our state? Paul Vallas? Adam Kinzinger? I’d even take Peter Roskam
While I don’t disagree with your sentiment the GOP voters in Illinois don’t want compromise any more than democrats. Both sides see the other side as evil and must be stopped. Until voters mature with their desired outcome we will continue along on this path.
Adam Kinzinger? Now you did it. The rabid Trump supporters will start yelling “Rino”. Can’t have anyone in office or on any committee that doesn’t worship at the alter of Trump.
“Can’t have anyone in office or on any committee that doesn’t worship at the alter of Trump.” Kinzinger is selfishly attacking and weakening the GOP for his own self-interest. He knew he was going to lose his seat in redistricting. He thought that IL Democrats would support him as a moderate Republican for some other seat, maybe even Gov. You don’t **** where you eat. How wrong he was. Democrats will never support a Republican and it was a mistake to think that he can cross the aisle and get bi-partisan support by alienating his base. As for Republicans not… Read more »
What a Joke it seems you want all of the Crooks that got us to this point to begin with to continue running the state.
PPF: Are you getting a govt pension, or will soon? If so, your opinions are almost certainly skewed and not up for compromise.
PPF’s views – consistently stated – is that he doesn’t have to compromise – pensioners have protected legal status. I think that is largely accurate in a practical sense. The unions will hang on no matter what economic devastation comes to the state. They are very good at what they do. I noticed during a period ten years ago that people related the state had to encourage economic growth and business friendly policies to tackle the pension hole. This discussion doesn’t occur as much today because 1) it is no longer realistic to grow out of the problem as the… Read more »
As more and more of the middle class leaves and takes their wealth with them, the financial burden on those staying gets bigger and then they start leaving. Leaving is the only option. Question is, what is the breaking point when IL pols realize that they don’t have enough viable taxpayers to squeeze? When pension funds default?
Though well intentioned, Ted’s views on how to fix the state may be providing false hope. The best advice Ted can offer is to strongly recommend to anyone listening that they should leave Illinois asap. That’s difficult to do if your goal is to save the state. Wirepoints will need a large majority of the residents to stay to have any chance of saving the state.
