Illinois Board of Higher Ed recommends increased university budget – Bloomington Pantagraph

The yearly budget recommendation for fiscal year 2023 includes a 7% increase from the budget passed for fiscal year 2022, for a total recommendation of $2.132 billion, up from $1.993 billion. That does not include the State Universities Retirement System.

The increase in higher ed funding they’re requesting in less than the yearly increase in funding for SURS. In other words, they could easily have more money for for all these wonderful programs like MAP grants, diversity programs, teacher incentives, etc if it wasn’t for those darn pensions.
