Study says LaSalle County second best in state for small businesses – WCMY (Ottawa)

Ogle County is slightly higher in the ranking for first place. The study considered things like the percentage of people with small business income and how much the small business owners pay in taxes (with a link to the full map of ranked counties).

One of the main reasons for a better tax climate is both Lasalle and Ogle counties are not under Ptell jurisdiction thus they can have lower tax rates. In any Ptell county any tax breaks are just passed on to everyone else in the form of a higher tax rate. Rochelle in Ogle county a while back had a tax rate of of under 8% on 1/3rd value while Rockford was around 15%.
