Mayor Lightfoot on possible Chicago Bears move: City will make ‘compelling financial case’ to keep the team in town – Chicago Tribune*

"Lightfoot faces a difficult political challenge while negotiating with the Bears. Should the team leave, a segment of residents could blame her. But she’ll also catch heat if the team stays at the lakefront and struggling Chicagoans think she gave them too big a public subsidy to do so. By promising to make a 'compelling financial case' for them to stay, Lightfoot risks looking weak or ineffectual if the team leaves town."

Lori talking about the bears! Lori, nobody cares about the bears including the McCaskeys. Try doing something useful!

Putting a roof on Soldier Field is like putting lipstick on a pig

Well, that does make the pig look prettier. The problem is that the bears will still play like the bears and there is nothing pretty about that.

The Bears have a shot at doing what the Rams did at SoFi in terms of fan experience in AH. Imagine a Super Bowl at the new Bears stadium – it could happen. Will never happen at SF.

The experience of driving a car to the stadium on wide, mostly congestion free and safe suburban roads, ample parking, an entertainment complex for pre and post game festivities, a modern experience in a modern stadium, surrounded by residential neighborhoods, and trees, and no riff-raff trying to mug or carjack fans?

Sounds too good to be true!

If they don’t take her offer the insults will fly. Lightweight doesn’t like it when you don’t do what she wants.

Lori should demonstrate her sincerity by fighting the mayor of AH. Bare knuckle! Lori would be disqualified for dirty fighting!

If the McCashkey family goes into negotiations with chiraq, count on Big Shot LL to offer them anything they want and they will get it unless the city council steps in. It’s what she does. She has never won a legitimate negotiation in chiraq. The other side always get what they want except for the CPD. Big Shot hates them so much she won’t give anything they need or deserve.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
