This. Chicago administers policing, and prosecution, on basis of political connections. If you’re Jussie Smollett, your fake mugging gets full investigation by police, then suppression by prosecutor, then more investigation from police, then yet more investigation from special prosecutor. If you’re an unconnected non-celebrity non-SJW “victim” candidate, your crime, even your death by murder or manslaughter, gets short shrift. Let’s name all the Chicago residents who have been killed, whether by murder or by seemingly involuntary manslaughter, and clarify how many cases have led to an arrest, to a court-trial, to a conviction. Must not be any money for the City to prosecute these hit and runs. Speed cameras everywhere but could care less about victims of hit and runs.
The city will often refuse to even charge hit and runs as a crime. They routinely downgrade the grade to leaving the scene of an accident without making a police report, which is a municipal code violation, not a crime, and it’s a $100 fine and doesn’t go on your driving record. I know this because I’ve seen it happen to a friend.
