Magnificent Mile violent crimes are on the rise; association calls on state’s attorney to prosecute – ABC7 (Chicago)

"Violent crime has been up and that's what has us concerned," Kimberly Bares said. "Carjackings, recovery of guns, some shootings -- those kinds of things. We want to see the Cook County State's Attorney's Office prosecuting. When the police have put together a solid case, we want to see that prosecuted. And we want to see the judiciary sentence appropriately."

The destruction of Mag Mile IS the point. It’s the most prominent symbol of white privilege and systemic racism in Chicago. Rich, disproportately white and white-allied (aka Asian), and safe. Therefore, must be destroyed as a sacrifice to the Gods of Equity and the Spirit of St. Floyd of Fentynal. The City said as much when last summer the mayor’s deputy snarked that Suzie from Lombard felt unsafe coming downtown even though crime was running rampant elsewhere in Chicago. “They’re yelling at me about the crime in downtown Chicago,” he said during a July 15 meeting of the Chicago Police… Read more »

She’s not useless. It’s entirely useful. She’s great at her job. But she doesn’t work for you, or for the public interest. She has committed herself to the patron saint of equity, Michael “hands up don’t shoot” Brown, and frees criminals to terrorize the city, in his honor. And from this perspective, she’s doing God’s work.

Wait, I thought I saw Lil Kim on TV earlier this week talking about this very thing, only she was talking about arrests, convictions and jail time for offenders. Are you saying that was just a bunch of talk and her actions don’t support her words. Imagine that.

Some guy drives a couple times down Lightfoot’s alley, and gets himself arrested.

Some guys regularly loot Burberry, Ferragamo, et al, and can’t seem to get arrested, even if they litter front lawn of Pritzker’s mansion with discarded beer cans and empty cash registers.

We live in Alice in Wonderland, up is down, left is right, only the Queen gets protection.

Didn’t the guy fire a gun a couple of miles from Lori’s castle? Lori is distraught! She thought this could be her Jan 6 moment. Normally alleys are teeming with CH7 reporters supplementing their salaries.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
