"This should not be a surprise to anyone who’s done business at a Driver Services Facility (especially the one on Elston Avenue). The fidgety patrons want to get in and out as quickly as possible. The weary-looking clerks are waiting for their shifts to end. Nobody wants to be in a Secretary of State’s office. Not even the Secretary of State. (George) Ryan was so eager to move up that his office sold truckers’ licenses for bribes, which ended up in his campaign fund. As a result, Ryan spent more time in prison than he did as governor."
I read once, and I can’t find the link for the life of me, that Jesse had a lot of family members working for the IL SOS. It was a scandal in 2006 when he promoted his daughter to a $100k a year job and he survived that which gave him cover to hire the rest of his family. The media loves Jesse so they don’t report bad things about him, probably why I can’t find that older article reporting exactly how many members of his family work there. In 2006 it was his daughter, at least three nieces, and… Read more »

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White said Monday his decision to promote his daughter to a $112,000-a-year job and employ other relatives should not be compared to the corruption scandal that brought down his predecessor.White said he did not pressure anyone to hire at… Read more »
Thanks for finding this article, I think there is one more out there showing the full extent of his family’s infiltration of the SOS. He sucked millions of dollars for his family out of that office. That’s why he never had ambition to move up and on.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
