Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

I read once, and I can’t find the link for the life of me, that Jesse had a lot of family members working for the IL SOS. It was a scandal in 2006 when he promoted his daughter to a $100k a year job and he survived that which gave him cover to hire the rest of his family. The media loves Jesse so they don’t report bad things about him, probably why I can’t find that older article reporting exactly how many members of his family work there. Glenna Jones was listed as a SENIOR EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT in 2021 w/ salary of $158,300, which was a 7% increase over her 2020 salary in the same position. She’s probably pushing 60 now, and with nearly 30 years in the SOS office under her belt, I wouldn’t be surprised to see her retire alongside her daddy. Thanks for finding this article, I think there is one more out there showing the full extent of his family’s infiltration of the SOS. He sucked millions of dollars for his family out of that office. That’s why he never had ambition to move up and on.
