Lightfoot unveils new Chicago tourism campaign: ‘What We’re Made Of’ – FOX32 (Chicago)

The new campaign will be featured on TV monitors, screens and banners throughout O'Hare and Midway Airports, highlighting the city's food, museums beaches and parks. It also is meant to encourage tourists to get out of the Loop and support businesses in the neighborhoods.

I’m starting a new business in the downtown area, it will make me millions. “Chalk outline of your body on Michigan Avenue”. The customer line forms over there.

Wow. “What We’re Made Of”?: Answer: “You’re full of shit”, per sharp rhetorical reponse.

Until the masks come off at airports and on planes my wife and I are driving for vacations, long distance. We get 27 MPG in a fully-loaded capsule-on-top Mazda CX5, still cheap enough, high crime cities are probably the last places we will go to. Screw the planes road trip! Chicago’s lakefront is beautiful but we’ve been there 100 times, we would never, ever, consider touring anything in the Chicago “neighborhoods”. We want to live a little longer.

The slogan should be “We’re Full of It” That’s what we’re made of!

Apparently Chicagoans are made of jello. Just blobs like spineless jelly fish. Sure they used to be tough but now they just willingly give away their freedom, liberty, incomes to boot jack leftists. They should just show a bunch of masked up Karens walking alone in front of boarded up storefronts or a car jacker on Michigan Ave. for their campaign.

Don’t forget the crime, Ms. Mayor, the mob retail theft, oh, and the delightful shootings hijackings, and assaults. And the drugs … there’s something for everyone!

And public transportation … “Crime on the CTA was up nearly 56% in January and February compared with the same time last year, according to Chicago police. Violent crime was up 24%, and property crimes, which include offenses like theft, more than doubled.”

Try including these in your new initiative.

No?

Instead how about you use your resources to make Chicago a safer place before trying to attract more unwary tourists.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
