Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. This is way Illinois under democrap leadership is denying 2nd Amendment rights. There are set time limits, by law, to process and issue FOID cards as well as CC permits. Why, if they are constantly not issued in the required time frame, aren’t the people responsible for these failures charged with the appropriate crime or fined large sums of cash, from their pockets not taxpayer dollars? Make them pay and watch how quick it speeds things up.
It has nothing to do with lack of will to issue FOIDs and CC permits – it’s lack of resources to handle the overwhelming number of requests. No help from Springfield on this one, but that’s no surprise, they’re not fans of the second amendment.
My understanding is that FOID cards are being issued within the prescribed timeframe, but not concealed carry permits. Mine took over 9 months.
