Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. I’m not worried about CPD reading my plate. I have no intention of entering that dump of a city again.
I can’t complain about license plate readers. My car was stolen after I forgot my keys in the console tray and left the car unlocked (I had unloaded a bunch of stuff and was preoccupied). A cruising patrol car got a plate reader hit on the near North side the next day. The car was legally parked. Police called me and I got the car back. Police speculated the thief was worried about GPS tracking so he parked it with the idea to come back later if it was still there. Then I paid about $200 to have the remaining… Read more »
If you loan your car to someone and they speed or go thru the red light the owner of the car gets the citation not the driver. Happened to my wife who had her car in a repair shop and got a ticket in the mail for $100 even though she was in the waiting room at the time. Contested but no luck. Have you noticed that the yellow light is a little shorter? A few tenths of a second shorter can mean a ticket. Has anyone looked into this??? Sometimes it’s hard if you enter the intersection at the… Read more »
If you enter the intersection when the light is yellow, there is no ticket. The ticket is for proceeding into the intersection when the light is red. But if the light turns yellow just before you get to the intersection, there is a good chance, with a super short yellow, you can’t stop in time before it turns red. Or you grit your teeth and gun it. Either way, short yellows are extremely dangerous.
Worries about the license plate readers are mainly due to the increase in minorities who are caught committing those nonsense crimes like, murder, aggravated battery etc.
Yes, but, just imagine the day when the government uses license late readers against people like you, for, you know, attending a conservative rally, or a pro-life march, etc…
The cameras are great for catching the little devils so Kim can let them off! What’s the ROI?
