Illinois Democrats Tell Gov. Greg Abbott to Keep Chicago’s Name Out His Mouth – Yahoo News

In the wake of a deadly school shooting in his state, Texas Governor Greg Abbott is pointing his finger at Chicago to argue the case for why he opposes stricter gun laws. At a May 25 press conference, the governor said, “I hate to say this, there are more people that are shot every weekend in Chicago than there are in schools in Texas,” Abbott said. “So, if you’re looking for a real solution, Chicago teaches that what you’re talking about is not a real solution.” But Illinois Democrats, including the state’s governor and Chicago Mayor, Lori Lightfoot, are clapping back and telling Abbott to stay in his lane.

Truth hurts. So do the bullets flying around formerly safe parts of Chicago.

Do something to stop the carnage? Naah. Virtue signaling is easier. Blame the gun, blame climate change, call everyone racist, but in reality do nothing.

Illinois pols are the worst kind of scum.

To the left exposing the narrative that covers up the most heinous is worse than the heinous. Doesn’t Lori know that the whole world has “Chicago” coming out its mouth? Too much CNN Lori.

38 shot in Chicago already this holiday weekend. Uvalde is heartbreaking, but no one wants to mention about the WEEKLY heartbreak in Chicago. And obviously the ineffective Chicago Democrat leaders don’t want anyone to mention that they have done absolutely nothing to reduce Chicago’s problem. Gun bans don’t work– but let’s not let anyone know that. Right Lightfoot and Pritzker?

LL and JB don’t realize the Chicago is the red state whipping boy for bad governance and malfeasance. Virtually every conservative of any influence has seen it. But LL and JB live in this fantasy world where they don’t consume and aren’t even aware of how often Chicago is mocked, ridiculed and laughed at by every red state and conservative. This is one of the rare times that the ridicule crosses over from the conservative… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
