Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Many if not most of the ‘traveling’ nurses are doing local travel. Hospitals decided it would be cheaper to hire contract ‘traveling’ nurses during crunches or periods of higher hospitalizations, hoping that more expensive short term contracts would offset less expensive, but longer term, full time staff. When nurses realized this was the case, a lot quit their jobs and joined the short term contract gig causing prices to go higher for everyone as a contingent of nurses bounce from hospital to hospital forcing higher pay for everyone.
And they all damn well deserve it my daughter is a traveling nurse how would you like to be spit on, hit, yelled at on so on by asshole patient’s and there is nothing much a nurse can do but be told to be understanding and compassionate and work 12 hours a day or longer remember without nurses you have no care.
Nurses work far harder than CPS teachers, and in difficult life and death situations.
Just what qualifications do you have to make such a sweepingly broad, absurd statement? What constitutes “work”? Who or what decides what work is more important than other work? It certainly isn’t salary data alone? Work in one sort of job isn’t necessarily comparable to work in another anyway.
Get off my lawn you meddling kids!!!
A nurse can save my life…a teacher”
Absolutely agree.
Illinois citizens would be wise to be aware of this before the State is drained of all medical professionals, having been destroyed by public benefits entitlements organisms.
That’s why my daughter resides and works in North Carolina
You can’t change the personality of the patients. Your daughter needs to understand that, come to terms with it, seek another job appointment, or find a different line of work.
Hardcore, James. Hardcore.
Go ahead, make my day!
Like they say once a prick always a prick hey james
I respectfully disagree that you can’t change the personality of a patient. Put your self in the patient shoes for a moment. They are sick and in the hospital probably in a lot of pain taking multiple meds with untold number of side effects. Many meds cause irritability/depression/anxiety/etc laying in uncomfortable beds getting test after test-blood draw at all hours of the day, lack of restful healing sleep. Their bodies are devoid essential nutrients like Vitamin D/magnesium/melatonin/etc which the body needs to reduce pain and heal properly with minimum amount of meds. I know people who work in nursing homes and… Read more »
Well, I’ll amend my statement to say that you can’t change the IMMEDIATE personality of some patients. Sure, in an emegency or other high-stress situation people can be all kinds of things not part of ther normal behavior with their fellow man.
BTW, James, what do you do for a living?
Your question has no relevance.
