The Jesse Sullivan for Governor campaign reportedly obtained Facebook messages from a whistleblower from CTU’s private Facebook group from the past two years that, according to the campaign, violate the prohibition of using taxpayer funds for political activities, outlined by the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act & State Employees Ethics Act.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

Whistleblower (False Claims Act) lawsuits have the power to accomplish what all the voting in the world cannot:
Force disclosure/discovery of corruption by bad public-money-recipient- actors heretofore protected by corrupt-government-public-money-doler-outers.
The Columbus “discovery” lesson is beyond naïve. I’d like to see how they’d handle the Conquistadors.
