Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Illinois has highest gas prices east of the Rocky Mountains

Wisconsin this weekend: $4.649/gal. Locally: $5.799/gal.
Border gas stations in WI thrive; border gas stations in IL, well, you know.
Yup just came back from Hayward 2 weeks ago $4.46 a gallon when we arrived in Illinois my jaw dropped $5.99 a gallon, go figure
But Mr. Pritzker is suspending the $0.02/gallon tax increase!
Why aren’t we more grateful? Because at $5.999, $0.02 is a whopping 0.33%. At that rate we can buy an extra gallon of gas once we’ve purchased 299 or so gallons (at $5.999 that would be about $1,799).
So, here’s the deal:buy nearly 299 gallons of gas and get one gallon free!
Thanks a whole lot, Governor.
