“cameras near schools only operate while class is in session”… also during before/after school activities…also during summer school. It’s impossible to know if the cameras are operating. Some states require a flashing light when the 20 mph zone is active for “students present”. Not Illinois.

Beale should instead push it so the excess revenue above and beyond the cost of the camera rental go to a non profit for children such as Ronald McDonald house or St Judes. This would remove the appearance of a conflict of interest, and speeders would know they are at least helping children who are dying.
