Report: City to explore putting dome on Soldier Field – WGNTV (Chicago)

An early draft of the proposal estimates costs in the ballpark of $400 million to $1.5 billion, which would likely be subsidized by taxpayers.

Totally agree. The SJWs have infiltrated hockey, the last sport I follow, so now I just watch the game itself and no other coverage. But you still can’t avoid it.
Every group is out there shoving “acceptance” down our throats. You want to be accepted? Don’t ask for it, just go out and live your life. Don’t ask anyone for anything. Be humble, work hard, and don’t bring attention to yourself. Don’t act like a dog that always wants to be petted.
I find no need to be tolerant of the intolerant.

I go both ways on the conservative view that we should abandon sportsball because it went woke or what not. On the one hand, yes, we should deny the NFL, NHL, MLB the $$$ if they want to go woke. F’m. But on the other hand, there aren’t enough of us willing to commit to the boycott to make much meaningful damage to the league’s bottom lines. I boycotted the NFL during corona with all the social justice messages. I really did. By the 2021 season the social justice message was mostly gone, so I consider that a win. And… Read more »

That’s cool, I’m the same way with hockey. I stick to the live action and ignore the rest.

The Tribune reports Lori is headed to London and Paris to promote Chicago! I call flaming bullshit! She’s running off to hide! Strolling the Champs Elysees. Be careful you might be swept up by the rat catchers!

I support this, but only if they turn it into a detention center.
Better yet, leave the roof off and still turn it into one. They can handcuff thugs to the seat beer holders.

Lori is working hard multitasking! Perhaps a little misdirected. I thought a previous structural review thought a dome did not have adequate support capability with the original design! Wasn’t the original foundation poured the day after Lincoln was shot?

Bear are leaving — dome or no dome — in fact, most Bears fans would HATE to see the team play indoors.

So does this mean we are throwing away a perfectly good and recently built stadium to appease a sub-par loser franchise? Wise choice for a bankrupt city and state. Note to Lori: Let them play sports ball somewhere else. Nobody gives a sh*t anymore and certainly not for if we have to pay for it.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
