I don’t even know what number my district is right now. Just know that Raja is current rep, but election is Casten/Pekau.

I think there is a chance this is flipped, but perhaps I am just living in a dream world.

How the heck did a Henry Hyde district turn into this? What the heck happened to DuPage?

Many legacy or native DuPage Republicans either died or moved in the previous two decades. Foreign born Democrat voters and their Democrat voting progeny purchased their homes and rented their former apartments. Almost 30% of the county doesn’t speak English at home. The non-natives combined with the AWFL’s is over 50% of the population of DuPage County. A small handful of these two groups show up in the primaries to nominate the progressives and all of them show up in Nov. to elect Democrats.

And, heavily Republican areas like Elmhurst were put in even heavier Democratic districts where their votes get diluted. Elmhurst’s old district was Quigley’s and snaked all the way from the lakefront to DuPage. Our old district went from being with Republican Wheaton to Democratic Schaumburg with Raja. They cut up the Republican areas and made them minorities in heavily Democratic districts. Now, we’re with Tim Scott and Lindsey Graham, along with quite a few other DuPagers.

That new map is just plain embarrassing. It is the worst map in the nation after NY’s got thrown out in court.

On the campaign trail didn’t JB promise fair maps? I guess no one asked, ‘fair to whom?’

Use that one too, Mr. Bailey!

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
