Column: Spin machine in high gear over bond-abolition bill – Champaign News-Gazette*

Jim Dey: "(Gov. JB Pritzker) said 'we’re trying to address the problem of a single mother who shoplifted diapers for her baby' and then was 'kept' in jail for six months because she couldn’t pay her bond. 'That’s what SAFE-T is about,' he said. Actually, that’s what the governor wants voters to think the SAFE-T Act is about. But it’s not. Abolishing the bond system could have potentially deadly consequences few defenders of the law want to discuss — at least not before the election."

We had to wear masks and remote learn lest we risk the life of one student or teacher. Now we’re passing soft on crime laws that will risk the lives of many students and teachers. Can’t have it both ways.

As I’ve cited here before, the stated purpose of the bill is equity. The ‘E’ in SAFE-T is Equity. The Black Caucus defines equity as “incarcerating fewer Black and Brown people”. This law is entirely about race. It’s a racial law designed to release accused criminals and convicted back into the community. Pritzker, and all progressive liberal dems, use the false narrative of extremes whenever they justify one of their short sighted and dangerous agenda policies. They speak of the single mom stealing diapers to promote no bail, or the incest rape victim to promote abortions, but those examples are the extreme minority. The media is complicit. It’s all a charade. Keep eating those doughnuts big boy. It’s the one thing that can save us.

They must lie, because like most communist policies, the policies are very unpopular, so they lie, and often use force, to impose their will on an unwilling populace. Trust me, it’s not long before the state of IL starts using force on its internal enemies. My guess is that if Devore wins and starts rooting out the communists, Devore is going to have a target on his back and they’ll try to throw him in prison for the rest of his life

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
