The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services and the Illinois Department of Human Services had to shut down the ABE system after it was revealed that people could view customer applications, which included name, gender, date of birth, county, Social Security numbers, medical information and income information.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
