Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. It looks like JB got 500,000 less votes this year than he did in 2018 with 95% of precincts reporting. The bag he spread around was a lot lighter this time. Even Obama only lost 400,000 votes from 2008 to 2012 in IL.
Not sure where you’re looking but NY Times currently has JB with 2.070 Million votes with 90% reporting and he had 2.479 million votes in 2018. It will be less than 400k votes when it’s all said and done. What does that say about Bailey and the ILGOP? Fewer votes and Bailey couldn’t make it competitive. He only has 1.638 million votes. More than 100k less than Rauner in 2018. Almost 200k votes less than Rauner in 2014. Almost 100k less votes than Brady in 2010. Bailey couldn’t excite his own base to come out and vote for him. Awful… Read more »
Two words that everyone with an ounce of common sense should fear, President Pritzger
At least it will get him out of Illinois.
I hope he runs. He’ll never make it out of the primary.
Pekau lost the 6th District? I don’t believe it! The corruption is sickening.
Depressing News!. I’m going back to bed. Setting the alarm for four years.
I’ve been reconciled to another 4 years of Governor Tax Cheat from the moment Bailey was nominated. I voted for him – not because I thought he was capable of being a good governor, but because he wasn’t Pritzker. I would have voted for Bill the Cat if the Republicans had picked him to run. Wish that they had, “Ack!” as a campaign slogan would have probably garnered more votes than most of what Bailey had to say. And, while the Worker’s Rights Amendment’s passing is a big disappointment, it’s actually a very small surprise. Bailey’s candidacy in a mid-term… Read more »
No Republican can win IL anymore. Just like no Dem can ever win IN again.
We live in the era of one-party states. The general elections no longer matter. Only the primary for the majority matters. Republicans would be better off voting in the Democrat primaries in the future to select sleeper agents.
With the ability to rig elections at will, the Cyborg could get elected. Nope, it’s Red States vs Blue States – pick where you’d like to live.
Get your popcorn ready for the next act in the Illinois Sh*@ Show!
It’s on to the presidential race now.
It’s demoralizing.
Everybody still hates them…. probably a lot more now.
Just when you thought Illinoisans couldn’t get any dumber…
Who says they actually had a say in this mess?
Something stinks about this. The Sharpie ink all over the polling stations is a major red flag. The guy didn’t raise any money; it all came out of his pocket. Nobody is happy about the way this state is being run. He financed his opposition because he was so unlikable.
The main objective at Chicago’s 28th precinct poll location workers yesterday was 1.) Assuring that everyone mark their ballots with Sharpie markers 2.) Keeping a close watch and even count of their Sharpie markers. It was the first word heard the minute you stepped inside the building and were handed clipboard with the Application for Ballot Certificate. Every other word heard was ‘Sharpie’ They openly discussed they were removing the caps to deter Sharpie thieves and announced that anyone taking a Sharpie after voting would be ‘tracked.’ After observing this peculiar behavior I inquired several times while standing in the… Read more »
Yeah. As a student, I can remember using Scantron technology all throughout the 80s and 90s. I can’t ever remember being told that ink pens gum up the machines. We’ve had this technology around for at least 40 years; you’d think they would have figured it out by now. There was sharpie ink all over the booth I used. There were Sharpie dots all over the ballot folders from bleed through. Who knows how many ballots got rejected. My only regret is not taking pictures of the whole mess and recording the scene. I feel bad for older folks because… Read more »
Pritzker just told the country in his victory speech that he will be running for President if Grandpa Joe doesn’t, he will do nothing absolutely nothing to help Illinois in his next 2 years his attention will be on the presidential election, watch out people especially now that federal money is about to run out, this man has no consensus what is about to happen to Illinois.
